Dressage News:
SANLETTO in HOLLAND
Andre spent 3 weeks in Holland training on Approved Oldenburg Stallion, Sanletto(Sandro Hit-Rouletto-Inschallah)It was a great experience, and I'm so happy that Sanletto has settled so well at "De Ijzerenman" in Weert! "De Ijzerenman is a establishment of real Riding Tradition, being the former home of Olympic Grand Prix Rider, Gonnelien Gordijn(Rothenberger) and now homes European Pony rider Champion, Antoinette Te Riele, niece of Gonnelien! Yves Houtackers, Dutch International Jumping rider, is also based here!
Bjorn van Kessel and Niels Bax have been involved with the family for more than 10 years, and is running "De Ijzereman" now as their private concern! Niels has had great success on several horses at all different levels, and he takes Sanletto's daily training under his wing, under the watchfull eye of Master trainer Bert Rutten once a week! It is a great plan, when I'm there, I have Niels on the ground, and Bert once a week, and when I'm not there, Niels just keeps it going! Sanletto and I have actually for the first time since he has left SA, bonded again, it hasn't been easy, and even though Niels is very strict, he is equally as patient!
Sanletto was amazing at our first competition, keeping in mind he had not been to a show in 2 years, he was super expressive, and it was all new for both of us, having to compete against very experienced horse and rider combinations, still managed to come 6th, with quite a few communication errors! The aim is now to clock as many miles possible in the ring, for us to get to know each other! Our second show was pure training, and for Sanletto to become "one" in the ring, but still managed a fifth place!
I have had very positive feedback from both Niels and Bert, and can't wait to get back there from 7 Sept for 4 weeks, where we will be competing in our first Major show in Geldrop!
RESULTS
Andre has had a good run with his horses since returning from Holland last month, where he was training and competing with Sanletto! At Riverleigh Int Equestrian Centre San Rubina(Sir Donnerhall-Rohdiamant) was the clear winner with nearly 74%, she was praised for uphill cadence and elasticity! Sarah Moore's Bentley had a go at his first medium, and was placed 3rd, well done!
GAUTENG CHAMPS WARM UP
The Milmac Dressage team had a great GHS warm up with a win in Novice for San Rubina(Sir Donnerhall) and a 4th place for Bentley(Landadel) in EM!
GAUTENG DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Andre did his new sponsors, "MILMAC FEEDS" proud by winning a Novice Qualifier on San Rubina(Sir Donnerhall), unfortunately she was tired on the Saturday for the championships, being her first major show, with a few mistakes, still ended 4th in a strong field! Bentley19 (Landadel) had a great show by coming second twice with over 66% and 68% in EM,and being very new at this level, ended 5th in the Championship! The show was ended with a 2 day Seminar by Olympic judge Mariette Whitages! She was fantastic in her approach, being able to see and judge every horse as an individual, and being brave to give good marks where it was due, and lower marks when it was bad! We all, riders and judges learnt a lot, and hope Mariette will be back soon!
